Paul has already affirmed that no man is justified by the Law. He teaches that instead, people are declared righteous through faith in the seed God promised to come through Abraham. The seed, we know from reading Galatians 3:16, is Jesus Christ. We saw that God justified Abraham before He gave the Law. Law brings sin to light, exposing it for what it is. We who have believed the promise are not under the Law, but under grace. What then are we to do with these truths about the Law? Is the Law sin? Did the Law cause my death? What is the purpose of the Law? If it couldn’t justify us, can it sanctify us?
